The director of this awesome flick was Dominic Sena.

Randall “Memphis” Raines (Nicholas Cage) was the top car thief in Long Beach and had to walk away from his criminal lifestyle, so that he didn’t lead his brother down a wayward path. Memphis get’s dragged back to Longbeach when his brother Kip (Giovanni Ribisi) screws up a job of stealing 50 exotic cars for Raymond Calitri (Christopher Eccleston) stolen car broker. Memphis has to step in and clean up the mess his brother made. Memphis reassembles his old crew and attemps to pull of the biggest boost of his career of 50 cars by 8 AM Friday morning.

There is some excellent driving in this film with Nicolas Cage doing most of his own stunt driving for the film. To prepare for the film he attended the Bondurant Driving School in Phoenix, Arizona, Willow Springs and the Bobby Ore Stunt Driving School.

There were 7 Eleanor replicas made for use in this movie and 5 of them were totaled during stunt sequences. Nicolas Cage and Jerry Bruckheimer (the Producer) kept the remaining two. Nick will regularly take Eleanor out for joy rides while Bruckheimer is afraid of driving her.

The only true Shelby GT500 in the movie was given to Nicolas Cage’s character by Giovanni Ribisi’s character at the end of the movie. The owner allowed the vehicle to be used as long as it was returned in the original condition. Every part that could be unbolted was replaced by junk parts.
