Ford Escort RS1800
The 1976 Ford Escort Mark II RS1800 was only made for two years, from 1975 and then was killed off in 1977. It was considered one of the most successful rally cars of its day and these babies still get used today in rallying. The first RS1800′s were produced in Halewood, England and then were moved to Germany until they stopped manufacturing them in 1977.
There were 4.9 million Escorts sold in the UK, of those 109 were the RS1800, there are approximately only 25 that are still working today and of those 25, only 2 of them that are left are red. So if you have an old RS1800 Escort sitting locked up somewhere that is red, then it would be worth a mint today.
The Ford Escort Mark IIs is also considered to be a good drifting car as it has a short wheelbase and rear-wheel-drive. The RS1800 has a 16 valve alloy, 1835cc version of the Cosworth BDA engine and produces around 115bhp. Some of the features on the RS1800 included stiffened suspension, wide wheels and an uprated gearbox.
So this car had a big heart and a lot of go in it and if you own one of them you are holding onto a piece of history. I must say I do like the look of the RS1800, it looks pretty mean.
