1993 Ford Mustang GT – Car Review
I must say I usually think the Ford Mustang is a hot car, but after looking at photo’s of the 1993 Ford Mustang GT, I must ask Ford “WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!!!!!”. We have a photo of this car in our Gallery.
1993 Ford Mustang GT
This car is ugly! I know there would be fans out there of this car but it does not look like a Mustang at all It just looks like a normal sedan, nothing special. To me the Mustang is all muscle, it has that “IT” factor but unfortunetely the 1993 Mustang does not have this. It is sadly lacking in that department.
The 1993 Ford Mustang was a limited-edition Cobra with a modified 245-horsepower engine. This car was marketed as having a 5-speed manual and Cobras also had altered suspension for tighter handling, 4-wheel disc brakes, and 245/ZR17 tires (versus 15-inchers for “lesser” Mustangs).
The 1993 Ford Mustang GT was a third generation Ford Mustang and was the last of the Fox-chassis based 5.0L’s. There were no mechanical changes made to the Mustang from 1992 to 1993, apart from hypereutectic pistons replacing the previous forged aluminum pistons, both the horsepower and torque ratings dropped for the 1993 Mustang from 20hp and torque by 25. Ford’s evaluation of their engines led them to do a few minor mechanical changes which then affected the ratings.
The new paint colours Electric Red, Bright Blue Clearcoat Metallic, Royal Blue Clearcoat Metallic, Reef Blue Clearcoat Metallic, Silver Clearcoat Metallic (all of these available with the Titanium lower accent treatment), Vibrant Red and Vibrant White were introduced in the final year of the GT’s production. The only colours that followed on from the 1992 Mustang were the Black Clearcoat and Bright Red. Besides that the 1993 Mustang GT was from very similiar to the 1992 model with 5-spoke cast aluminum 16×7 inch wheels with P225/55ZR Goodyear uni-directional Gatorbacks standard and P225/55ZR16 all-season performance tires optional. It retained its flush-fitting headlamps, aerodynamic nose, rear wing, round fog lights, louvered taillights, flush rear quarter window and ground effects package.
The new colour schemes of the interior were Opal Grey and Ruby Red which replaced Titanium and Scarlet Red. Black was the only interior colour that stayed the same. Opal Grey leather seats were offered as optional equipment in the GT hatchback. The leather seat choices for the convertible GT became white and opal grey or white and ruby red. The 1993 GT continued with the 7,000 rpm tach, dual map lights, articulated sports seats, interval wipers, center console, driver’s foot rest/support and brake and accelerator pedals positioned to allow heel-and-toe downshifting. Some new features of the 1993 GT were a new 80-watt electronic AM/FM stereo radio with cassette player, integral digital clock and premium sound system and a new 80 watt compact disc player with electronic AM/FM stereo radio. The other options of 1993 Mustang included a 4-way power driver’s seat, 7 band graphic equalizer, power locks and windows, speed control, dual remote mirrors, air conditioning, sunroof, rear defrost, cargo tie-down net and electronic AM/FM stereo with cassette. The other thing to make mention was that the 1993 convertibles had an inner lining for the convertible top.
